Boat training is an important part of training for search and rescue. The trainee is taught how to launch and operate a fast rescue boat. Once the training is done the trainee is deemed competent enough to maneuver and take charge of such boats in extreme conditions. Search boats are meant to be used in all kinds of weather and conditions and the pilot has to be well trained to handle all kinds of situations. It is also important to have a good sense of navigation. Handling a boat is complicated as you have to face the wind and current and guide the boat accordingly. Boat training survey means knowing how to leave a dock, maintain speed, pivot turn, docking, anchoring, backing, towing alongside , rescuing a capsized boat and much more.
